Clinical activities/description of role and interests/research
I support young people and their families before diagnosis, preparing them for a cancer diagnosis, throughout the treatment process, including preparation for surgery, and during long term follow up. I liaise with paediatric oncology and referral centres.
My MSc is in Medical Anthropology and I am especially interested in cross cultural health beliefs in relation to the cancer experience.
I have recently been involved in research into the use of complimentary therapies in cancer patients and am currently co-ordinating a trial on the use of an endoprosthetic device for the direct attachment of a prosthetic limb in patients with a trans-femoral amputation.
